Mixed feelings in today's "vehicle world"
by Anonymous Reviewer on 5/6/2026 4:22:49 PM
I purchased my 2018 Chevy Tahoe back on October 2022 with 60,000 miles. No issues until April 2026, transmission broke down at 140,000 miles, cost me $3,000 to reconstruct. Mechanic states the motor was not damaged and should be good for another 100,000. I love my Tahoe and I can't give up on it. It has driving me to different family trips with no issues, very reliable. Even when the transmission broke, it didn't leave me stranded, I was able to drive at 30 m/h to a safe location. BUT I am always on top of the maintenance; which is very important to stay on time with it. - 5.0
Solid SUV For Families

In 2023, I purchased a 2016 Tahoe LT with 71k miles. It was black with grey interior. Black 22-inch wheels and grey leather seats. We added a 15 inch pull down TV for long road trips. The vehicle was solid for us up until we sold it with 113k miles in 2026. I maintained it with synthetic Mobile 1 oil changes and filter every 5k miles. I replace thermostat, coolant sensor and MAS sensor at about 95k miles. The previous owner replaced AC components at 70k miles according to the carfax and I replaced it again at 104k miles. Besides oil changes and air filters, I invested about $950 over 42k miles. I runs and drives great, very smooth. I would definitely purchase another one from this generation. The V8 power is great and gas mileage is decent. We moved to a Ford Expedition with 30k miles because of mileage and it's much larger inside than the Tahoe. Anyone looking at this generation Tahoe should make sure it was maintained well and feel comfortable purchasing. It was a great vehicle for my family. - 5.0
